We Are Seeking 250
Women & Families

In honor of America’s 250th birthday,
The Village is launching The American Birth Story — a national documentary and research initiative focused on gathering real birth experiences from women and families across the United States.

We are looking for at least 250 participants
willing to share their birth stories — including:

  • Hospital births

  • Home births

  • Birth center births

  • Vaginal births

  • Cesarean births

  • Inductions

  • Unplanned changes

  • Emergency situations

  • Peaceful and empowering experiences

  • Complicated or difficult outcomes

Tell us the good, the bad, and the unexpected.

Who Can Participate?

You may be eligible if:

  • You have given birth in the United States

  • You are willing to share your experience

  • Your birth took place in any setting (hospital, home, birth center, etc.)

We are seeking families from a wide range of backgrounds and birth experiences, with the goal of interviewing at least one family who has given birth in each of the 50 states.

Help Us Tell the Full Story

Birth is not one-size-fits-all.
And neither is the American experience.

By participating in The American Birth Story,
you are helping document how families welcome new life into the world — today.

Click below to schedule your virtual interview time
and complete a brief intake form.

You will also be asked to complete a questionnaire
about your experience
so that we can gather data from your experience.

Selected stories will contribute to:

  • A 2026 documentary film project

  • Ongoing maternal health and family research

  • Future advocacy and educational initiatives

  • A broader national conversation
    about birth in America today

Participation Options

We understand that birth is deeply personal.

Participants have the option to:

  • Share their story anonymously

  • Allow their words to be used
    without audio or video

  • Participate in an audio-only interview

  • Participate in an on-camera interview
    (with written consent and release)

Your privacy and comfort will be respected throughout the process.

We thank you in advance for being
so passionate about sharing your story
in an effort to positively impact others.
